My teaching philosophy, while still evolving, centers around a belief that we are all created for a purpose and therefore have the ability and the intelligence to perform that purpose.
Concerning the students:
Every child, as I stated, has the ability to provide something special to their community and every child deserves the opportunity to learn in a safe environment. I strive to give each student my best daily and make each one feel they are my favorite student and focus of my time. To do so, I make sure to learn each of their names within the first week and learn something about them outside of class that I can ask them about periodically to show that I care about them as a person.
Concerning the material:
I will trust the governing bodies that develop the curriculum and I will teach it in a way that brings relevance to everyday situations. The goal will be to teach the students a way of thinking without them realizing it so they can instinctively apply it to other aspects of their lives.
Concerning the environment:
I will provide a safe environment where students will feel free to speak their mind in a courteous and respectful manner. It will be conducive to learning through the paraphernalia on the walls to the set up of the room.
Never forget...
What it felt like to be a high school teenager.
